"Exodus" (2022)
there were opened window blinds,
two chairs beside
a kitchen table,
coffee brewing through our breath.
where silence lived,
while love was known
without a single sound.

but there is space now
that exists
in between our own hearts.
I couldn't make it to yours,
or perhaps I just died trying.

so many things i would tell you
if this great chasm shrunk
by fallen tears,
if i were only close enough
to cross this distance
to feel your warmth.

so many things i want to tell you like
your heart could be found
in mine if you let it.
but i've searched each and every room inside,
they are all vacant and cold
they leave not the faintest
trace of you.

the coffee still brews now
through your absence
and our silence lives on
through the void;

so many things i needed to tell you,

i may never find the words.
